`<cumulativeSum>`

Running total of the child math or number values: the list of partial sums

<cumulativeSum> is a Math Operator component that renders the running total of its arguments: a list whose $n$ th entry is the sum of the first $n$ input values.

Where <sum> reduces a list to a single value, <cumulativeSum> produces a list the same length as its input.

Examples

Example: `<cumulativeSum>` of a list of numbers

Each entry is the total of everything up to and including it, so the last entry equals the <sum> of the whole list.

Example: indexing into the result

The result behaves like any other list: individual entries are available with $cum[3], and the whole thing can be passed on to another operator.

Example: partial sums of a series

Rounding attributes such as displayDigits are passed through to every value in the result.

Example: symbolic partial sums

When the inputs are not all numbers, <cumulativeSum> accumulates symbolically, giving $x$ , $x+y$ , $x+y+z$ .
